1. IntroductionThe severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2), responsible for the lung disease called COVID-19, was first identified in December 2019 in China [1]. Since its discovery, SARS-CoV-2 has rapidly spread worldwide, leading to a global pandemic state declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020 [2].
