A man in his 20s has died after a hit and run on the northside. Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Railway Street in Balbriggan, shortly after 9pm last night when a pedestrian was hit by a car. The vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene. A man in his 20s, was treated at the scene but died there a short time later. The scene remains closed off while a technical exams is carried out. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, to get in touch with them.

Dublin TD Paul Murphy was released from police custody in Egypt last night. He's expected to return home to Ireland later today. The People Before Profit TD was detained for a second time yesterday - after going to a police station in Cairo to ask for his phone to be returned. It had been taken from him when he was first detained on Friday. He is one of thousands of people who have travelled to Egypt to cross the border into Palestine, and take part in a 'Global March for Gaza'.

Penneys has unveiled its €5 million revamp of its O’Connell Street store. The flagship location first opened in 1992, and now its had its glow-up in over a decade, with brighter interiors, wider walkways, and energy-efficient lighting creating a fresh. Spanning 52,400 sq. ft., the store now boasts a larger layout, fitting rooms have been revamped, 16 self-service checkouts added, and the Nails studio is not up and running.
