Dublin's four local authorities are to team up to lobby for a tourist tax in the capital. The Irish Times reports a county-wide local authority team is to be developed, to lay the groundwork for new laws around a tourist tax. Legislations is needed to introduce such a levy, which is why Dublin's four councils are to come together - to lobby for support from politicians, and promote public awareness. A levy on hotel stays is already in place in a number of countries worldwide.

Police in the North are still investigating the alleged voyeuristic filming of Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin. This incident relates to footage allegedly captured from outside a beachfront holiday home in Rostrevor, Co Down, that McGregor and family were staying in last November. According to the Irish Independent, the MMA fighter told police in the North that he became aware of the footage when his sister told him it was circulating online.

Three people have been charged in connection with the death of a man in Co. Wicklow earlier this year. William Moorehouse was found dead in a child's playground near Bray on January 19th. The 36 year old was a father of six and his partner was pregnant with his seventh child at the time. It's understood he had been stabbed and gardai subsequently launched a murder probe. Yesterday, four people were arrested as part of the inquiry - a woman in her 50s, a boy and two men in their 20s and 30s.

Dublin City Council publishes plan for new northside town

The council wants to create a new town near Glasnevin. It would be built on the current site of the Dublin Industrial Estate. Ballyboggan would be located along the Royal Canal to the west of Glasnevin Cemetery. The site earmarked for the new town, is currently occupied by the Dublin Industrial Estate – which is already served by rail and Luas. 75% of the land would be residential and the rest for community uses and enterprise.
Teen critical after broad daylight attack in Dublin

A teenager is fighting for his life after an assault in a north Dublin park. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the attack last week. The assault happened at Greencastle Park in Coolock last Thursday, April 3rd. Shortly after half 3.30pm, the victim, who is aged in his late teens, sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Anyone who witnessed the attack or who has information is being asked to contact Coolock garda station.

Gardaí say the 9 searches were conducted across the country yesterday were coordinated by the Online Child Exploitation UnitThey haven't specified if those locations were residential addresses or not, but 18 devices were seized.
Man (20s) arrested following drugs bust at Dublin Airport

A massive drugs bust was made at Dublin Airport this week. 11 kilos of herbal cannabis was found by Revenue officers. The drugs have an estimated value of €220,000. The cannabis was found vaccum sealed in the baggage of a passenger who'd gotten off a flight from Spain. A man in his 20s was subsequently arrested by guards, and is currently detained at a Dublin Garda Station.

A number of raids have been carried out as part of a crackdown on drugs and contraband being smuggled into Dublin prisons. A drone, improvised weapons and miniature phones were the among items seized. Properties in Clondalkin, Ballyfermot, Coolock and Tallaght were searched yesterday as part of this operation, along with cells at Mountjoy Prison. The ongoing investigation is targeting the smuggling of drugs and contraband into Mountjoy - along with Wheatfield and Cloverhill jails.
