Marilyn Hinson is a fitness educator at the Downtown Athletic Club in Eugene. Two of Marilyn's longtime students, Caroline Moore and Liz Coleman, nominated Marilyn as an Inspiring Mind, sharing that she keeps them inspired to embrace the movement of their bodies. Marilyn has been a fixture at the Downtown Athletic Club for 32 years, teaching classes and holding the noon Monday, Wednesday, Friday slot for 31 of those years.

In a stunning final-round surge, the No. 5 Oregon women’s golf team captured the 2025 Big Ten Championship on Sunday at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Maryland, clinching the title by a 14-stroke margin in its first year in the conference. Trailing by three entering the final day, the Ducks shot a 12-under-par 276 to finish the weekend at 12-under 852, tying the tournament’s 54-hole scoring record. Oregon Sophomore Kiara Romero led the charge, winning the individual title at 7-under par.

KLCC continues to honor educators this year with Inspiring Minds: Spotlighting Inspiration in Education. In this installment, we meet Patrick Clarke, the Oregon Small Schools Association’s 2025 Teacher of the Year. Clarke is the Culinary Director for Siletz Valley School in Lincoln County. This award came as a surprise to him, especially given that he never expected to be an educator. “I honestly never really had a desire to be a teacher, nor did I ever think I would be in the education system.
