Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Sports has announced plans to set up a committee of enquiry to review the performance of the State athletes at the just concluded Niger Delta Sports Festival, NDSF held in Uyo. Akwa Ibom took 6th position with a medal haul of 9 golds, 14 silvers and 14 bronze medals totaling 37, out of the nine states of the Niger Delta that participated in the competition.

A lecturer at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Dr Udeme Nana has advised youths to attach themselves to older and experienced people especially in the academics for mentorship. Nana who gave the advise during the celebration of his 60th birthday anniversary and unveiling of his anthology of poems entitled: “Musing of Yesteryears” regretted that youths of nowadays feel reluctant going close to older people for guidance.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said its operatives have arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed this in a statement on Monday. Oyewale listed the suspects to include Osita Emmanuel, 25, Saint Johnson, 20, Peter Lucky, 26, Samuel Asuquo, 28, Raphael James, 29, Chimobi Moses, 29, Edara Ubong, 21, and Nchekwube Paul, 23.
