Congratulations to Holcombe’s Dom Dixon who was part of the triumphant New Zealand squad at the FIH Nations Cup 2025 in Malaysia. New Zealand made it back-to-back wins at the tournament with a 6-2 defeat of Pakistan having gone all the way last year. Dixon, a new arrival at Holcombe Park, played in all five matches, starting four as the Black Sticks, coached by former Holc Greg Nicol, impressed en route to another trophy.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the appointment of David Mathews as their Women’s 1s Head Coach. Mathews, a former Holcombe player and Great Britain and England international, joins the club ahead of their 2025/26 season in Division One South. The 48-year-old enjoyed two spells at Canterbury either side of a stint with Amsterdam in the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

Holcombe’s Sam Taylor, Rohan Bhuhi and Matt Ramshaw have been named in England’s FIH Pro League squad for the first four matches of the London leg of the 2024/25 edition. The squad will change for the final two matches. Taylor, Bhuhi and Ramshaw are included alongside former Holcs Sam Ward and Phil Roper in Zak Jones’ first squad since taking over as permanent head coach.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the signing of Alex Chihota, a current member of the Great Britain Elite Development Programme (EDP) squad. Chihota, 20, was named Player of the Tournament at the Sultan of Johor Cup in October, where Great Britain won for the fourth time in 13 editions. He also scored the equaliser in the final as Great Britain came back from 2-0 down against Australia to win 3-2 and take gold.

Holcombe players Dom Dixon, Brad Read and Trevor de Lora have been named in the respective New Zealand and South Africa squads for the upcoming FIH Nations Cup. Dixon and Read have been selected by former Holc Greg Nicol in the Vantage Black Sticks squad which also includes Hayden Phillips, former Holcombe Men’s player and Women’s Assistant Coach.
