New Zealand made it back-to-back wins at the tournament with a 6-2 defeat of Pakistan having gone all the way last year. Dixon, a new arrival at Holcombe Park, played in all five matches, starting four as the Black Sticks, coached by former Holc Greg Nicol, impressed en route to another trophy.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the appointment of David Mathews as their Women’s 1s Head Coach. Mathews, a former Holcombe player and Great Britain and England international, joins the club ahead of their 2025/26 season in Division One South. The 48-year-old enjoyed two spells at Canterbury either side of a stint with Amsterdam in the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

Holcombe’s Sam Taylor, Rohan Bhuhi and Matt Ramshaw have been named in England’s FIH Pro League squad for the first four matches of the London leg of the 2024/25 edition. The squad will change for the final two matches. Taylor, Bhuhi and Ramshaw are included alongside former Holcs Sam Ward and Phil Roper in Zak Jones’ first squad since taking over as permanent head coach.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the signing of Alex Chihota, a current member of the Great Britain Elite Development Programme (EDP) squad. Chihota, 20, was named Player of the Tournament at the Sultan of Johor Cup in October, where Great Britain won for the fourth time in 13 editions. He also scored the equaliser in the final as Great Britain came back from 2-0 down against Australia to win 3-2 and take gold.

Holcombe players Dom Dixon, Brad Read and Trevor de Lora have been named in the respective New Zealand and South Africa squads for the upcoming FIH Nations Cup. Dixon and Read have been selected by former Holc Greg Nicol in the Vantage Black Sticks squad which also includes Hayden Phillips, former Holcombe Men’s player and Women’s Assistant Coach.

Holcombe’s Jennie Hoyte and Claire Hales both won silver medals with England and Alliance respectively at the recent Women’s Over-50s European Championships and Spirit of Masters tournament. England won all four of their pool games, beating Belgium 5-1, Spain B 7-0, France 11-0 and Scotland 3-0. Jennie scored once against both Spain and France and netted a brace against Scotland as she picked up the player of the match award.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the arrival of South Africa international Trevor de Lora, who becomes Kwan Browne’s sixth summer signing. de Lora follows Mikey Royden-Turner, Ali Douglas, Dom Dixon, Tom Moorhouse and Ellis Robson in joining the club ahead of the 2025/26 season. He is currently playing in the Green vs. Gold series in South Africa bidding for Nations Cup selection in June. Since making his international debut in 2022, de Lora has won 21 caps playing for South Africa, scoring once.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the signing of Great Britain Elite Development Programme (EDP) player Mikey Royden-Turner, who becomes Kwan Browne’s fifth summer signing. Royden-Turner joins fellow EDP player Ali Douglas in joining the club ahead of the 2025/26 season, along with the previous arrivals of Ellis Robson, Tom Moorhouse and New Zealand goalkeeper Dom Dixon.

Holcombe Hockey Club have confirmed the signing of Scotland international Ali Douglas. Douglas becomes Holcs’ fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Tom Moorhouse, Ellis Robson and Dom Dixon. He has three goals in 16 caps for Scotland and was part of the side that won the Nations Cup 2 alongside Holcombe and Scotland captain Rob Field earlier this year. Douglas, 20, is also part of the Great Britain Elite Development Programme (EDP) squad.

Holcombe’s Felix Tully and Tilly Woodhead have both been selected for the Great Britain Elite Development Programme (EDP) 2025 squad. The programme aims to provide the highest potential sub-senior players with the opportunities to develop as they continue to target Senior international hockey. It provides a combination of training, match-play and support to develop skills on and off the pitch.
