DAR ES SALAAM, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Four Tanzanian university students on Wednesday emerged as winners of the 24th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students worldwide. The competition, organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam, featured 16 participants from the university's institute, the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy, the Dar es Salaam University College of Education, and the Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim Center for Foreign Relations.

DAR ES SALAAM, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Wednesday directed the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) to conduct regular inspections of all bridges and culverts along major roads to avoid potential damage caused by ongoing rains. Majaliwa made the order when he inspected renovations of bridges at Matandu and Somanga-Mtama in Kilwa District of the Lindi Region along the Dar es Salaam-Lindi highway, which were swept away by flooding caused by the rains.
