1 INTRODUCTION Congenital eye anomalies (CEAs) are rare, with a prevalence ranging from 3.5 to 4.8 cases per 10 000 births in Europe.1 Prenatal diagnosis of CEAs represents an important issue because of their potential impact on vision function and the high rate of association with other anomalies.2, 3 The major landmarks of fetal eye development are amenable to mid-trimester prenatal ultrasound examination. On ultrasound, the orbits appear as echolucent circles in the face of the fetus.
