The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has acknowledged and expressed deep concern regarding allegations of sexual assault involving Grade One learners at Turffontein Primary School. Sanco Joburg Region, Sanco Ward 124, and the Greenside Muslim Community donated 1 350 blankets to Laerskool Voorbrand on June 3. The regional chairperson of Sanco in Greater Johannesburg, Pule Thomas Thaga, said this is part of the annual ‘spreading the warmth’ campaign. “We have partnered with the Greenside Muslim Community for the past 20 years and have donated blankets yearly,” he said.
