    Aspen City Council will pursue an expedited land use review for the Armory Hall redevelopment project with the goal of starting construction as early as summer 2026. An expedited review would allow the project team to submit the land use application by Feb. 3 and aim to have the application before the city’s Historic Preservation Commission in April, Aspen Development Manager Jen Phelan told the city council during a Monday work session.

    The home of two longtime city of Aspen residents was significantly damaged after a city water main break flooded their house, an incident the city’s insurance carrier said was an accident in denying the residents’ insurance claim. On the night of Dec. 21, David and Nina Eisenstat received a call from the Aspen Fire Department notifying them that a broken city water main was flooding their home on Park Avenue in east Aspen.
