You know when you’ve been thinking about doing something for ages and then suddenly resolve to get on with it there and then? That was me on Friday, when I finally decided to get the helix piercing in the upper cartilage of my ear I’d been deliberating for months. I’m celebrating my 30th next Saturday ahead of my awkwardly-timed Christmas Day birthday, so it seemed like a good time. For most people, that decision would just mean a quick google to find a piercing place and then heading out the door.

Hello,Last week I chopped all my hair off. It’s gone. No more blonde waves perpetually shoved up in a ponytail. They’ve been replaced by a spikey pixie cut that I frankly have no idea how to style, but for now I am enjoying having minimal need for a hairbrush. I think I quite like it. Like many things in life, I didn’t really know I was going to do it until I did it. I like to take myself by surprise (this amuses my friends no end).
