The Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has announced that the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has approved its request for funding for the Northeast Corridor Rapid Transit Project and could receive up to $389.5 million in federal grants. This approval advances the project into the New Starts Engineering phase of the FTA Capital Investment Grant (CIG) program.

Following Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s strong commitment to Vision Zero, aimed at reducing traffic accidents, fatalities and serious injuries by 2040, the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), the Miami-Dade County District 5 Commission Office, and the Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) have collaborated to add 170 special separation devices in the buffer zones of the bike lanes along N. Miami Avenue and NE First Avenue.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has announced that Anthony Howard has been named the Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA) 2024 Operator of the Year. The prestigious award will be presented to him at the FPTA/CTD Annual Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m., in West Palm Beach. Howard, a dedicated Miami-Dade Transit employee for 23 years, has consistently displayed professionalism and excellence in his role as a bus operator.
