Chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) is a prevalent condition characterized by recurring episodes of oxygen deprivation, commonly observed in respiratory disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), apneas of prematurity, Rett syndrome, familial dysautonomia, mitochondrial diseases, and epilepsy (1–5). Prolonged exposure to CIH has been shown to impact neuronal function, as well as contribute to the development of endothelial dysfunction, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress.
