His name, however, could become recognizable to more people in Venango County and to those in cities such as Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Philadelphia, as a documentary about Ashbaugh’s life at the center continues to screen in those select communities.

Fred Ashbaugh, seen at Polk State Center a few years before the facility closed, is the subject of the Artifact Studios documentary titled “You.Sleep.Stay.” Ashbaugh, now 83, had been a resident at the center for 71 years. The documentary is screening at select cities, including Franklin.
