The board authorized contracting with Bartingale Mechanical of Eau Claire as part of a two-phase project. It calls for “Building Two” boiler HVAC distribution work costing $597,343. This includes distribution piping to terminal heating units in “Buildings two, four, six and nine” at the school.

Artisans currently employs about 85 people, who were told last week production would relocate to a Kentucky in July 2026 with final closure by the end of next year. “Yes, it is true that Artisans made the announcement this last week to their employees,” Gordie and Bev Dukerschein confirmed in an email.

Most events are on Monday, May 26, with Weyerhaeuser events taking place on Sunday, May 25.     The Ladysmith Common Council voted 7-0, Monday, to provide for the sale of $2.025 million in general obligation bond promissory notes to help fund five Tax Incremental District projects on the city’s south side. The decision allows the city administrator and mayor to work with the agency that makes the best offer. The TID 12 projects consist of $390,286 to improve Lindoo Avenue, $355,549 to improve Corbett Avenue and $250,000 for a stormwater lift station, totaling about $1.34 million.

    A line of threatening storms that triggered tornado sirens in Ladysmith and left most of the city without power for about 90 minutes on Thursday, caused serious electrical grid and building damage in nearby rural areas. A string of seven large utility lines were felled along County P, near the Zuck Cattle Company roughly between Johnson and Roses roads. A barn collapsed nearby at a property owned by Kenneth and Sharon Pedersen, W7249 County P.
