Several teams from the Sunland Area traveled to Adams on Tuesday for the Freeman Invite. Among the teams competing along with Freeman were Tri County, Johnson County Central, Humbolt-Table Rock-Steinauer, Diller-Odell and Sterling. Top three finishes for the Freeman boys included Evan Ault finishing first in the 110-hurdles with a time of 14.56 and first in the 300-hurdles with a time of 40.71. Hayden Jansen winning the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.84.

FIRTH -- A Crete goal early in the first half ended up being the difference in Beatrice's B-5 Subdistrict game Monday night. Crete won the game 1-0 at Norris High School, ending the Lady O's season. Crete will play Norris in the subdistrict final Wednesday night. Beatrice coach Bryan Heinz said the team played great despite the loss. "We executed the game plan really well, but it was just one unfortunate break early on that was the difference," Heinz said.

Beatrice Country Club hosted the Trailblazer Conference Tournament on Monday. In perfect weather conditions, the Orangemen were able to come away with a second-place finish. Their team score of 346 was bested only by Wahoo's 337. Ashland-Greenwood was third at 355, Platteview was fourth at 361, Ralston was fifth at 373, Nebraska City was sixth at 391 and Plattsmouth was seventh at 440. Beatrice coach Ross Hoglund said they couldn't have asked for better conditions.
