(FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.) -- A young girl has died and her brother has been hospitalized after they fell into a hole they had dug in the sand at a beach Tuesday in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida. Sloan Mattingly, 5, and Maddox Mattingly, 9, were pulled out of the sand and taken to the hospital, but police later confirmed the girl died at the hospital. "Our hearts are heavy in LBTS today after learning two children were trapped in the sand," the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea said in a statement.

NEW YORK — For years, The Tenement Museum in New York City's Lower East Side has become a living monument to the stories of 19th and early 20th-century working-class New Yorkers. The museum is housed in a former tenement building that showcases an interactive learning space with artifacts, exhibits and other programs that have taught visitors the stories of struggle and hard work of immigrant families during that time.

Conner told ABC News that he struggled with the stigma of that criminal record for a long time, but recently his past has helped him and his family in a major way. In January, Conner opened Smacked!
