By Wandoo SomboThe Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition of the Action Alliance (AA) against Gov. Monday Okpebholo and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Delivering judgment on Wednesday in Abuja, the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by AA and Mr Adekunle Omoaje for being frivolous and lacking in merit. The three-member tribunal led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi held that Omoaje who filed the joint petition had no locus standi (legal right) to institute the case.

Guinea’s military leader has set Sept. 21, 2025, as the date for a constitutional referendum, in a potential first step towards returning to constitutional democracy. Mamady Doumbouya seized power in a coup in Sept. 2021, and in 2022 proposed a two-year transition to elections but did not take steps to organise a vote. Guinea, a bauxite and iron ore producer, is one of several West African countries where the military has taken power and stalled a return to civilian rule.
