    DODOMA: MORE than 5.5bn/- has been allocated in the 2025/26 financial year for the rehabilitation of 15 small- and medium-sized dams, as part of the implementation of the Five-Year Rainwater Harvesting Strategy (2022–2026). Through the budget the government will also promote rainwater harvesting from rooftops particularly in public institutions such as schools, dispensaries, health centres, hospitals and various government offices.

    DODOMA: THE government has announced that a total of 5,311 secondary schools and 20,509 primary schools across the country now have access to reliable water sources. Deputy Minister in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government – PORALG), Dr Festo Dugange, made the statement in the Parliament while responding to a question from Special Seats MP Stella Fiyao (CCM), who had asked when the government would begin installing rainwater harvesting systems in schools nationwide.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Mr David Silinde, said implementation will begin soon, and the government has already secured vehicles for the drilling exercise.
