1 INTRODUCTION The treatment of mental health conditions among children with intellectual disabilities (ID) has largely been overlooked. The point prevalence rate of mental illness for children with ID is as high as 50%, with elevated rates of internalizing and externalizing problems compared to typically developing children (Einfeld et al., 2011). Anxiety has been reported as the most prevalent mood disorder (Emerson, 2003).
