Taylor Sandell, local multimedia artist is gearing up for their first solo gallery exhibit with The Neon Gargoyle opening up at Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre (RVAC) Thursday, Sept. 5. The multi-media show, pitched as an antique store from a parallel world, includes neon signs, wood etchings and other mediums to create the collection of “faux antiques.”“Some items look at first to be normal but then you look a little closer and things get weird,” Sandell told Revelstoke Mountaineer.

REVY.Live Outside wrapped a 2024 season Sunday, Aug. 25 with The Porch Hounds and Revelstoke’s Highland pipe band at the Grizzly Plaza gazebo. This season of REVY.Live Outside only saw one cancelation and one rescheduling, a relief after last year was canceled partway through due to B.C.’s wildfire threats.

Residents and visitors alike will have a chance to add their own creations to LUNA ARTS this year by making a zine that will then be showcased on a traveling cart. Kira Makela, zine project designer is looking for those interested in creating a zine and sending it in. She’s also hosting workshops around town leading up to LUNA ARTS so folks can come learn the art of zine making. Attendees will be able to check out the finished print products Saturday, Sept.

Locomotive Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) No. 5500 made the slow and calculated move to its new home tracks in a 48 hour long process started Wednesday, Aug. 21. Using a crane, a hydraulics system and jack-and slide method workers shifted the historical diesel locomotive from the set of tracks it has rested on for the last 13 years to the new set it will remain on for the foreseeable future.

Bike Fest 2024 returns Thursday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 8 for a weekend of gear demos, vendors, the challenging Revy50 and the Women’s Enduro. “We’re excited to celebrate the biking season,” JF Bigras, Race Revelstoke’s owner and events director told Revelstoke Mountaineer.
