Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, and chromium (Cr) are toxic to human health [1], [2], [3]. From the long list of toxic heavy metals, chromium is a harmful pollutant found in wastewater produced by pigments for textile dyes, leather tanning, paints, plastics, metallurgy, and electroplating industries [4], [5], [6]. Chromium is a major source of environmental pollution due to its tendency to accumulate in bio-organisms and non-biodegradability [5], [7].
