This year the Kamloops Adults Learners Society (KALS) is celebrating their 20th anniversary in September, and they are still operating by bringing valuable courses to Kamlooopsians. The non-profit organization has focused on bringing lifelong learning to the community since 2005 by working with volunteers including teachers, leaders and organizers to offer courses on diverse topics. KALS has over 300 members and welcomes all students over the age of 18.

As residents of a car-dependent city, Kamloopsians are familiar with persistently high fuel prices, which have averaged $1.65 per litre over the last few years. The cost of maintaining a vehicle along with housing expenses has also increased for many households. So it’s no surprise that a survey commissioned by Kamloops’ own car share service, Propel Us Carshare Co-Op, found that 54 per cent of respondents would use a car share service if it was available to them.

Climate anxiety, or fear related to the future of the plant, is on the rise globally. One of the largest surveys conducted on the topic found people are suffering from climate anxiety on a large scale. While this is a sweeping issue, the survey also found those with climate anxiety are finding an outlet for their fears – pro-environmental activity and activism.
