At least 66 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were killed, and around 100 were injured in the early hours of Thursday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residential block near the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, according to the Palestinian News and Information Agency (Wafa).

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Egypt Mission Chief Ivanna Hollar announced on Wednesday the conclusion of two weeks of discussion in Cairo. According to the IMF’s statement, Egypt and the fund’s staff made “substantial progress in policy discussions.” So far, however, there was no mention of reaching a staff-level agreement on whether Egypt passed the review.

Shortly before 2 pm on Sunday, Israel launched an airstrike without warning on the headquarters of the Syrian Arab Socialist Baath Party in Ras al-Nabaa, a crowded area of central Beirut. The Lebanese Health Ministry said in an initial casualty count that one person was killed and three people were injured in the strike on the multi-story building while search and rescue operations were ongoing.

Israel continued to pummel Beirut on Friday, launching airstrikes on Borj al-Barajneh and on Ghobeiry. The attacks come after four consecutive days of heavy airstrikes on Beirut’s southwestern suburbs, triggering another wave of displacement from the area, once home to hundreds of thousands of Lebanese residents. The day before, Israel had targeted the still-crowded Chiyah area with four airstrikes.

The Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) approved on Monday Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ)’s acquisition of large stakes in three Egyptian petroleum firms, more than a year after the government’s announcement of the deal. The Emirati firm is to acquire a 25 percent share in the Egyptian Drilling Company, a 30 percent share of the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) and 35 percent in the Egyptian Drilling Company and Egyptian Linear Alkyl Benzene Company (ELAB).

Journalist Rasha Azab has accused the interior minister and the head of the National Security Agency of orchestrating recent threats against her and surveilling her movements, part of a pursuit that culminated in the theft of her car in recent days. Azab’s car was stolen from a site in Zamalek, Cairo, near the Spanish ambassador’s house and the Chinese Embassy, the journalist said in a statement about the incident she posted online on November 7.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution ordered on Sunday night the release of Ahmed Douma on LE20,000 bail after the activist spent hours facing questioning on false news charges. Douma was released shortly afterward. He was summoned for questioning after he made statements on social media about a ship which was allegedly carrying weapons bound for Israel, and which was said to have docked in Alexandria’s port.

Beitrut witnessed another night of heavy Israeli bombing on Friday, with at least 14 airstrikes targeting different areas in the Lebanese capital’s southern suburb. The strikes repeatedly targeted the Hadath, Haret Hreik and Bourj al-Barajneh areas in the southern suburb after the Israeli military issued evacuation orders to residents surrounding certain buildings in these areas, which it claimed were Hezbollah facilities. Israeli airstrikes also continued in southern Lebanon on Friday night.
