    Hecks Grove Elementary School, located in Hecks Grove Community in southern Warren County, was one of the Rosenwald Schools which were designed by Booker T. Washington and The Tuskegee Institute with funding from Julius Rosenwald. Booker T. Washington reached out to Mr. Rosenwald, president of Sears, Roebuck and Company, as he was a new member of the Board of Trustees at Tuskegee Institute.

She is an associate professor in the department of Political Science and describes herself as teacher first and foremost. She decided to pursue this career because she strongly believes in the transformation that education brings to people. She has always loved learning and was deeply moved and changed by the courses she has taken.

    A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to sit down with Professor Della Thacker for an interview. During this interview, she was very sweet and welcoming to me and was more than happy to provide me with information about her career at Indiana State University. She teaches future undergraduate secondary education majors to be middle and high school teachers. She teaches a senior education law class, which has field experience, intro to teaching classes and classroom management.

    Eric Scott has been named Director of Bands at Indiana State. His job includes overseeing the entire band program which includes the concert bands. He builds relationships with the faculty members and is an active advocate for them. He builds these relationships because a lot of the associated faculty members work with students. He teaches Orchestra and Concert band, and he primarily works with music education majors. He has traveled many places for his career.
