    THE Minister for Local Government, Jim McMahon, has declined to give any assurance that the Listed Places of Worship Grant (LPWG) Scheme will be made permanent, or that projects already under way will be exempt from the new cap.     THE Additional Curates Society (ACS), a charity, founded in 1837, that at one time funded one third of assistant curates, is working with the Charity Commission to reform its governance, after a complaint was made by a whistle-blowing trustee. A dossier submitted to the charity in December 2023 and seen by the Church Times raises a series of concerns about the governance of the charity, including the proper use of its funds, which totalled £6.2 million at the end of 2023.

    THE decision by the Archbishop of Wales, the Most Revd Andy John, to appoint the Bangor diocesan secretary as sub-dean of Bangor Cathedral has been implicitly criticised in the Visitation report he commissioned last year (News, 28 February). The report also identifies a number of areas of concern around the working culture at the cathedral, including the personal conduct of certain individuals and management practices “that lacked transparency and vigour”.
