    In a vain attempt to use Maggie Dean’s spectral guns, Annabelle is infected by the spectral sickness. To cure her, Maggie, the Dead Man, and her ghost sidekick Jack travel to Calvin Calhoun’s Circus, the place where Maggie Dean learned how to shoot and called home after her father was killed. Madame Lavia, infected with the spectral sickness as well, attempts to cure her, but only manages to hold off the inevitable for a time.

    The plot thickens in this final issue, as the inspector delves into the history and motivations of this dysfunctional family. Merry delights in trying to solve the case for the inspector which only irritates him more. Sam’s interview comes off as sincere and somewhat hapless, but when he breaks down the crime scene in a professional manner, you’re convinced he knows what he’s talking about. It’s also revealed that Louise was supposed to inherit M.

    Warning: References to rape and fratricide. Set in the fantasy world of Asunda, this comic is the first issue in a spin-off series of Niobe: She is Life. I’ve been circling around this series for a while, and though it does not focus on Niobe, she is a supporting character in this four-issue story arc. Not being familiar with the world, I did have to read it a couple of times to make sure that I got all the names and relationships straight.

    Merry and her nephew Sam travel all the way to Paris only to discover the two French Fauteuils (chairs) she wants to sell are not particularly valuable. No matter what Merry’s arguments, the antique dealer is not swayed; however, on their way out, they are approached by a young man (Aldo Huxley) who tells them another antique dealer – a Monsieur Vautour – might be interested in the chairs. It isn’t until they leave that we, the reader, realizes something nefarious might be going on.
