SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -“The entire limb was ripped off,” said Melissa Austin, Owner of Savannah on Wheels. People in downtown Savannah were shocked when they saw a semi-truck take out a branch on one of the City’s historic oak trees and keep driving. They pulled out their cameras and snapped these photos. You can see the massive branch sitting on top of the tractor-trailer. This all unfolded on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard near West Hall Street a few weeks ago.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -In this week’s Asked & Answered, we have an update on Savannah’s first African American library that’s been closed for the past nine months. The Historic Carnegie Library on East Henry Street downtown closed after Tropical Storm Debby caused water damage last August. Live Oak Public Libraries says flooding revealed erosion in the basement so the branch has been closed indefinitely for safety reasons.

South Carolina’s Department of Consumer Affairs now joining other consumer advocates around the nation in raising concerns about what will happen to the DNA data of 23andMe’s 15 million customers when the genetic testing company sells to a third party. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week.
Fiery crash kills 2 young children, 2 adults in Jeff Davis County

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -A mother is the only surviving member left in her family after her husband and two young children were killed in a fiery crash in Jeff Davis County Thursday night. Nicholas Coleman, 27, and his two children Tinsley, 3, and Stetson, 2, died when the Chevy Avalanche they were riding in crossed over the line and crashed head-on with a semi-truck going the opposite way. Jeff Davis County Fire Rescue says both vehicles to burst into flames upon impact.

Some residents on the island say they don’t understand why FedEx and UPS will deliver packages to their home, but the United States Post Office won’t deliver mail--they are forced to have a P.O. Box. We reached out to the United States Postal Service on this. They sent us a statement saying:The Postal Service is committed to providing quality service, as long as we can do so safely and efficiently.
