Point Loma is home to a new public mural, courtesy of artist Hanna Daly and the Point Loma Association. The painting of a colorful bouquet of assorted flowers is on the building of Schmidt Design Group, a landscape architecture and planning firm, at 1310 Rosecrans St.The completion of the mural was celebrated May 28 with a community reception.

On a sunny Wednesday afternoon in May, a table overflowing with herbs, roots, flowers and citrus fruits sat in the Pacific Beach/Taylor Library courtyard. Sitting behind the table was Lally Adler, a gardening aficionado with extensive knowledge of native plants. She was there for the library’s gardening exchange, held monthly on the first Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m.“I have been into gardening forever and came back to Pacific Beach from Mission Valley during the COVID lockdown,” Adler said.

Three students at Point Loma’s Correia Middle School were rewarded for short documentary-style films they made for the C-SPAN network’s 2025 StudentCam competition. Students, parents, teachers, administrators and C-SPAN representatives turned out to honor the young filmmakers at a gathering May 21. The trio’s works were among nearly 1,700 student entries from across the country.

For students, alumni, faculty and staff, Point Loma High School’s 100th anniversary is sparking excitement, with a twist of nostalgia. The Pointer community is gearing up for the “Cheers to 100 Years” gala coming in September and reflecting on the school’s history along the way. Jesse Denney, a Point Loma High special-education teacher and a 1984 graduate, recalls his time as a student with admiration and gratefulness.
