Remember to send in your questions for our weekly call by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com. Darth_Lazarus asks: At this point do you still consider Arias in the top tier of Yankee prospects? Do I consider him a top prospect for the team still?

Photo by Nic Antaya/Getty Images The Yankees managed to avoid getting swept in Detroit, salvaging the finale and finishing this road trip with a 7-5 record. It’s still extremely early, but despite the three-game losing streak they just broke New York sits just a half-game out of first place, just behind the Toronto Blue Jays and a couple games above the rest of the pack.

Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images The Yankees were on the wrong end of a lopsided loss on Tuesday, as Tarik Skubal neutralized the Bomber bats for six innings before turning it over to the Tigers bullpen to complete the shutout. On the other side, Carlos Carrasco looked every bit the 38-year-old in the twilight of his career as opposed to the spring chicken that won the starting gig, as he gave up three home runs in 4.1 innings.

Photo by Duane Burleson/Getty Images As a general rule, baseball isn’t really meant to be played in adverse weather. Unlike football or soccer, it’s near impossible to play through rain if it comes down even remotely hard, prompting the tarp crew to come out. In theory, snow is a similar detriment, but personally there’s just something charming about seeing snowflakes falling during an early April game.

The Yankees have seen a sweep, a series loss, and nearly converted another sweep in the early going of the 2025 season. After running into a small road bump in the Diamondbacks, the Bombers’ bats responded well with a quick pick-me-up in Pittsburgh. Aaron Judge continues to hit the cover off the ball, tallying six home runs to pace the early leaderboards, and the rest of the lineup is providing as well. There were some flashes of weaknesses on display as well, though.

Photo by David Berding/Getty Images The Yankees sleepwalked their way through eight innings of their game on Sunday against the Pirates, but they erupted for three runs to tie the game in the ninth inning. That brought them into extras, but sadly they couldn’t scratch across another run and ultimately fell in the 11th inning. They couldn’t complete the sweep, but it was still an overall successful start to their road trip.

Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images New York Daily News | Gary Phillips: Austin Wells’ day job may be catching pitchers and mashing homers, but his morning routine often finds him waking up with a breakfast burrito to start his day. The Yankee catcher made an Instagram account recently to rank the burritos of opposing clubhouses while the team is on the road, and Pittsburgh was the first to get his judgment.

Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images The Yankees were all business in the series opener against Pittsburgh, putting nine runs on the board with none other than Aaron Judge launching another home run. That’s six bombs in seven games for the Captain now, as he’s on an absolute tear to start the season. The offense is clicking around him as well, and despite dropping the last series to Arizona there’s not a lot to complain about with the early results from this Yankees team.
