The UCSO said Shdarrian Williams, 17, of Strong, Ark., was reported missing on Wednesday, May 14. Shdarrian’s family said the teen was last seen on May 9, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

    RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana Tech University earned recognition as housing one of the nation’s top teacher preparation programs. The university’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Leadership (housed in the College of Education and Human Sciences) earned an A+ rating in elementary mathematics instruction from the National Council on Teacher Quality. The NCTQ praised the program for having a strong foundation in both math content and pedagogy.

    BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE)— The LSU AgCenter is using a new produce prescription program to put fresh fruits and vegetables on the tables of rural families. Medicaid-enrolled children ages 3-17 in Assumption, Terrebonne, Winn, Morehouse and Claiborne parishes can now participate in the Healthy Families Produce Prescription (HFPRx) program. Participants in the produce prescription program will get a pre-loaded FreshConnect card that will allow them to spend $40 a month on fresh fruits and vegetables.

    GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE) - Dr. Kala Burrell-Craft joined Grambling State University as its newest Dean of the College of Education. The appointment follows Dr. Obadiah Simmons’s interim leadership. Burrell-Craft earned a bachelor’s degree from Bowie State University, a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix, and an educational specialist (EdS) and a doctoral degree (PhD) from Louisiana State University. She has teaching and administrative experience in middle and high school settings.
