Heavy rain in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, caused flooding and prompted disaster declarations in several municipalities. School closures and road impacts were reported, and a PennDOT meeting was postponed due to the flooding. There were 11 water rescues on May 13 by local first responders and water rescue teams, when a day-long torrential downpour in southern Somerset County caused flooding, evacuations and a state of emergency status.

Somerset County 911 is receiving multiple reports of flooded roadways on May 13 in the Garrett, Meyersdale and Salisbury areas. Flooding is occurring now in these locations:Garrett: Johnson Road, Center Church Road and Schrock Road;Meyersdale: Rockdale Road, Mount Davis Road, Matlick Road, Cemetary Road, Berkleys Mill Road, Petenbrink Road, Pine Hill Road, Shaw Mines Road; andSalisbury: Mason Dixon Highway.

The SAR works to preserve the history of the American Revolution and honor those who fought for independence. The Great Glades Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will gather at 2 p.m. May 17, to honor five Patriots of the American Revolution. The ceremony will be held in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brothersvalley Township.
