The United Progressive Alliance Party (UPA) will now go to polls in 2027 with a new livery, symbol and slogan. A meeting by the party’s National Executive Council officials in Kisii Wednesday resolved a radical rebranding of the outfit to make it more accommodative. The party is mostly associated with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi. Party officials hinted Matiangi would jet back the country in a fortnight to get officially launch his bid.

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has hinted that he would challenge Kisii Governor Simba Arati, his political protege, for governorship in 2027. Authorities in Kisii say at least five people were killed Sunday when a rickety storey structure came tumbling down on family homes in Itierio, Suneka, Bonchari. Security agencies in Mombasa and Nairobi counties, acting on tip, arrested two suspects for drug trafficking.
