0 With 2024 coming to an end and being declared the year on record by the World Meteorological Organisation, it is important for us, as Exeter students, to reflect on the efforts our University has made in terms of its sustainability impacts, both locally and nationwide. By this means, towards the end of the year, the University of Exeter rose from 12th to 9th place in the 2024/2025 People & Planet University League – being the top Russell Group university within the current rankings.

0 The Facebook group aimed at Exeter students – “Overheard at Uni of Exeter”, with over 42 thousand members at the time of writing, has recently been flooded with often anonymously listed posts that express anger and disappointment over the resell price of tickets to the leading nightclub Timepiece. Tickets are being sold by other students for over £40 a ticket, with the usual price of a ticket being just £3.

0 With the New Year, comes new resolutions: for many, that means reading more books or visiting your local library. For parents, this often involves reading out loud to their children before bed. For me, as a student, reading for leisure (rather than for academics and, more specifically, my degree) has been crucial to me since last summer, but with the New Year, I also told myself that I would stop buying new books until I finish the current one I’m reading at a given time.

0 December marks the end of the month of November – known for its campus-wide Movember fundraising, including the “Big Moustache on Campus” event, where typically, different societies create online spaces for others to donate money to and inspire people to keep growing moustaches throughout the month.
