Word started to spread In December 2023 that Moana was to become the House of Mouse’s “first transgender princess”, but the report originated from Mouse Trap News, a satirical website that publishes jokey fabricated stories about Disney.

It’s Bisexual Awareness Week 2024, so it seems like a good time to remember a true bisexual icon of yesteryear: IKEA’s bisexual couch. Back in 2021, a polarising set of IKEA Pride sofas sent LGBTQ+ Twitter (ah, the good old days before it was known as X) into a collective frenzy. It all started when furniture supremos IKEA, which as a company is a long time LGBTQ+ ally, unveiled a collection of 10 “loveseats” inspired by the flags of different LGBTQ+ identities.

Admirers of Father Mychal Judge, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) chaplain who died in the 9/11 attack, once asked for the priest to be considered for sainthood, and the more you learn about him you’ll understand why. Roman Catholic priest Mychal Judge is remembered as a hero of the attacks on the World Trade Center on 11 September, 2001. He arrived at the World Trade Center shortly after the first plane hit that morning, NPR reported.

There’s a significant LGBTQ+ presence in the furry community – and for many, it was the furries subculture that helped them understand their queer identity. The furry subculture comes together to share a love of anthropomorphic animal characters. Many create their own ‘fursonas’ and interact with others in the fandom through these avatars, both in-person through badges or costumes at conventions and online through artistic renditions or forum handles.
