SPRINGFIELD — Protesters flooded the rotunda of the Illinois Statehouse earlier this month, urging legislators to increase wages for caregivers of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The ‘They Deserve More’ coalition — representing advocacy organizations, families and over 90 agencies providing community care — is asking that these direct support personnel, or DSPs, receive at least 150% of Illinois’ minimum wage.

Dozens of Charles W. Henry School parents joined a nationwide protest Wednesday against President Donald Trump's proposed elimination of the U.S. Department of Education. The "walk-in" protest, encouraged by the National Education Association, started at 8 a.m. just outside the school in Mt. Airy, where students, parents and elected officials gathered to speak out against the threatened cuts to federal education funding.

Frigid temperatures did not dissuade members of the Chestnut Hill Conservancy from gathering at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's Wissahickon Inn on the evening of Jan. 9 to usher in the new year with an annual meeting. Leaders of the organization took to the podium to discuss a review of the past year along with a look ahead to 2025. The meeting comes at a time of much change for the Conservancy, faced with an outgoing board president and executive director.
