    “Proof,” a play by playwright and screenwriter David Auburn, tells the story of a woman who discovers a revolutionary mathematical proof. Among the many themes it addresses is an overarching focus on the difficulties faced by women in STEM fields. Sydney Weaver, ‘25, recognized this story and its motifs as something representative of many students at Lehigh. A year and a half ago, the theatre and journalism major decided on this particular play as the perfect piece to showcase at Lehigh.

    Professors from Lehigh’s department of Art, Architecture and Design stepped out of the classroom and into the spotlight to showcase their work at the Lehigh University Art Galleries for the first time in five years. The exhibition ran from Feb. 4 to Feb. 18 in the main gallery of Zoellner Arts Center. The goal was to “celebrate the visionary talent and creativity of Lehigh’s Department of Art, Architecture and Design,” according to the gallery’s website.

    David Parry, ‘25, began skiing at just 2 years old, hitting the slopes in Vermont and the small Connecticut ski town he grew up in. While his passion for the sport came early, it has stuck with him for years. No matter where he went to college, Parry said, he wanted to be able to continue skiing as a student. The Lehigh Ski and Snowboard Club, which Parry is now vice president and treasurer of, has made that possible.

    Around 3,000 runners lined up at the SteelStacks at the second annual Bethlehem Running Festival to race in one or more of the weekend’s events and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Races included the newly added 3.8-mile trail run and courses for kids on Oct. 18, a 5K and 10K on Oct. 19 and a half-marathon on Oct. 20.

    Ozzie Breiner has lived in the Lehigh Valley his entire life. He grew up in Bethlehem and attended Muhlenberg College for his undergraduate degree. He came to Lehigh in 1986 for a master’s degree in higher education administration and has worked at the university as a member of the housing services staff ever since. After spending more than three decades at Lehigh, Breiner is retiring this October.
