Two prominent Texas lawmakers are pushing to move the Space Shuttle Discovery out of its place at the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly to bring it to Texas — and Virginia’s senators aren’t happy about it. Texas Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn have filed new legislation called the “Bring the Space Shuttle Home Act.” This would transfer the Discovery to a nonprofit near the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Purcellville Town Council Votes to Disband its Police Department

In a meeting on Tuesday night, the Purcellville town council voted to begin the process of eliminating its town police department. The council approved the measure with a 4–2 vote, with one member absent, Loudoun Now reported. The motion directed staff to prepare an ordinance that would eliminate the police department. Rather than a Purcellville-specific police force, the town would instead rely on the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
NoVA’s Housing Market Saw Increases in Home Prices and Inventory in March

The Northern Virginia housing market saw year-over-year increases in home prices, sales volume, and inventory levels in March 2025, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors found. There were 1,980 homes on the market in March 2025 — a 63.6 percent increase from March 2024. There were more new listings in the month of March than in February. March saw 1,890 new listings join the market, compared to 1,207 new listings in the February report.

Deep in a quarry in Culpeper, there are real dinosaur footprints, leftover from more than 215 million years ago. And you get the chance to see them once a year. The annual DinoWalk event, hosted by the Museum of Culpeper History and Luck Stone Quarry, allows visitors into the quarry to see the prints. This year’s event runs May 2 to 3, and tickets go on sale for the general public April 12. Vehicle passes are $50 and provide access for one vehicle and all of its occupants.
Arlington National Cemetery to Reintroduce Horse Caissons on Limited Basis

The U.S. Army will begin gradually reintegrating horse-drawn caissons into funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery. The use of caissons was halted two years ago due to concerns over the level of care the horses were receiving, particularly after two died in 2022 due to poor living conditions, The Associated Press reported. The horses will be reintroduced in phases to “ensure the safe and sustainable reintegration,” according to a news release.
