Women’s average weekly earnings in full-time jobs were 83.2% of those for men in 2024. This raw wage gap may be misinterpreted to suggest widespread wage discrimination against women, but the data do not support that claim. The wage gap is largely driven by the choices that women and men make. There’s almost no pay gap for single childless women, but the wage gap begins to widen around age 25, likely due to choices about family roles.

Other rules include gas furnaces, clothes dryers, microwave ovens, gas stoves, washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigerators. There is only more to come in 2024 with the finalization of the consumer boiler, ceiling fan, and walk-in cooler and freezer rules expected this year.

Energy Regulations on gas stoves made national news last year, but lesser known are the over 15 regulations the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has proposed or finalized that affect appliances in nearly every room of your house. The DOE recently finalized an efficiency standard for natural gas furnaces that increases costs and limits consumer choices. Additionally, the DOE used faulty authority to implement the rule. The rule effectively removes the option of non-condensing gas furnaces,...
