Cryptococcal meningitis causes up to 19% of all AIDS-related deaths globally [1]. In recent studies of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated cryptococcal meningitis, more than half of participants were antiretroviral therapy (ART)-experienced (currently receiving or previously received ART) when developing meningitis [2,3].
