Celebrity women's rights attorney Gloria R. Allred denied Friday any knowledge of a reported State Bar investigation into her firm's engagement agreements with their contingency fee clients. "We have not been informed by the State Bar of any investigation," Allred responded to an email from the Daily Journal. She added, "We have always acted ethically, and in accordance with the Rules of Professional Responsibility. At this time, it is well known that law firms across the country are being attacked.

The California State Bar has sued the technology provider involved in the disastrous rollout of the new bar exam. The bar sued ProctorU, dba as Meazure Learning, "the vendor it contracted with to facilitate the remote and in-person administration of the 2025 February Bar Exam," the bar said in a news release late Monday afternoon.

State Bar Executive Director Leah Wilson said Friday she will step down in response to the disastrous rollout of the new bar exam in February. The move will be effective July 7, according to a news release, when she will "retire from state service." "I am deeply grateful to the Board of Trustees for their confidence in my leadership, even during challenging times," Wilson said in the release.

President Donald Trump has chosen firebrand Republican Assemblyman Bill Essayli, R-Corona, to be the next U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, according to a multiple news reports. Politico first posted the story on Tuesday night. Attempts to reach Essayli or his staff on Tuesday were unsuccessful. Essayli, 39, is a former Riverside County deputy district attorney and assistant U.S. attorney in the Central District.

The California State Bar said Monday that "tens of thousands" of attorneys have yet to comply with trust account reporting requirements ahead of an April 1 deadline. The Bar launched the Client Trust Account Protection Program in 2023 to prevent a repeat of the scandal in which attorney Thomas Girardi stole from client trust accounts for years before he was caught. As of March 24, only 61% of licenses active attorneys had reported.
