    Senior Willa Rudnick gets to have the best of both worlds as a jazz studies major at Loyola and a drum major for Tulane University’s marching band. “I could have a good program that I wanted to get my degree in and also have a really fun opportunity of being in a marching band in New Orleans,” she said. “And now, recently, with a good football team [to play for].”Rudnick said the band program at Tulane has shaped her college experience in many ways, but most notably, in the travel opportunities.

    With the new arrival of sandwich chain Jimmy John’s on campus, students said goodbye to warmly toasted sandwiches, flatizzas, and the short-lived Subway sidekicks. While it’s unclear why Subway was replaced with another sandwich place instead of a pizzeria or even another burger joint to avenge the Original Burger Company – those who know, know – it appears that Jimmy John’s is here to stay.

    When Taylor Swift made her star-studded appearance in the Big Easy for The Eras Tour, it felt like the entire city had embraced her. From the giant friendship bracelets on the dome, an entire section of the skeleton house dedicated to Swift, to characterized beignets at Cafe du Monde dressed up in each era, everyone had pulled out all the stops to greet the popstar and the Swifties who’d be visiting the city for the show.

    Loyola senior Willa Rudnick is a jazz studies student by day and a Tulane University Marching Band drum major by night. Rudnick is the first Loyola student to hold this position since the band’s reestablishment in 2003. Rudnick, who plays saxophone, joined the marching band in her freshman year before becoming a section leader for her sophomore and junior years.

    Biology freshman Nicholas Martin’s athletic journey began in high school, where he played eight different sports: football, baseball, basketball, swim, tennis, cross country, and track and field. Of them all, it was track and field that earned him an invitation to join the Wolf Pack as the first decathlete on the team in 12 years.
