It’s my last first day of school. Today signifies the first page of the final chapter of my undergraduate years at NYU — a moment wrapped in nostalgia, accomplishment and the thrill of new beginnings. In the midst of this, I am excited to embark on another semester and, for the last time, lead the university’s independent student newspaper the Washington Square News. The start of a new academic semester has always carried a certain magic — a promise of discovery, growth and forging new connections.

The show began with a spoken-word poem by Sean Slaughter.
