Three Mandera residents have sued the County Government over what they termed as ethnic imbalance in the employment of health workers. Through Naikuni, Ngaag and Miecha Company Advocates, Mr Mohamed Ismail, Mr Hussein Abdi and Mr Issack Abdi Abdullahi have sued Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif, the county government of Mandera and the County Public Service Board. The county government is accused of favouritism and ethnic discrimination when hiring health staff.

After months of back and forth, three suspects in the murder of 17-year-old Gaala Adan were charged at Garissa High Court. The three, Mohammed Kassim Tiffow, Mussa Sheikh Ahmed, and Adan Mohammed Ahmed are accused of murdering Gaala Adan on March 22, 2025 at Lolkuta South Sublocation, Wara Location, within Wajir County.

Contradictory information is emerging following an attack by suspected al-Shabaab militants that left five quarry workers dead and two others injured. The incident happened early Tuesday morning along the Mandera-Khalalio road at Bura-Abor village in Mandera East. Despite government officials maintaining that the ill-fated vehicle broke the set security rules in transporting quarry workers, it has been revealed that there no security escort was provided.
