The erection of the billboard caught many by surprise on Thursday last week when they found the beaming message at the main entry point of the town and North Eastern Region. Communicated in two languages, Somali and Kiswahili, locals are asked to help in tracing Banati, a wanted terrorist with a whopping Sh1.3 billion bounty on his head.

    A Garissa County Assembly Member caused tension by causing a commotion at a restaurant at the weekend. Armed with a knife, Mr Noor Farah, the Jarajila MCA, caused a scene in a Garissa town restaurant at about 5pm on Saturday, shortly after attending the Garissa Cultural Festival. CCTV footage shows customers running into the restaurant before the MCA, who was armed with a knife, followed them. Inside, people ran for their lives as the seemingly MCA chased two women who had entered an inner room.
