When I arrived at Peduase Valley Resort for Yvonne Nelson’s book launch, the first known face I saw was Naa Ashorkor. After we exchanged not-so-pleasant pleasantries, I told her how proud I was of her. She wasn’t used to hearing kind words from me, so she probably treated that compliment like a political promise or how I’d treat a compliment from Abdul Hayi Moomen.

Some people have raised concerns over what they describe as the taking over of the state broadcaster’s role by Woezor TV, a television channel owned by the Deputy Chief of Staff in Charge of Operations at the Office of the President, Stan Xoese Dogbe. Stan Dogbe has, in a Facebook post, explained that no station house reporting from the presidency, including the state-owned GTV, has been stopped from taking live feed from the Office of the President.

Ghanaians deserve to know the basis for the government’s mass discontinuation of court cases against officials and associates of the previous Mahama administration. A few of the cases, such as the prosecution of the Democracy Hub protesters, raised concerns among many Ghanaians. One may not be surprised that those charges are dropped. A majority of the cases, however, border on corruption and charges of causing financial loss to the state.
