Sri Lanka, Jan. 19 -- Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Sunil Kumara Gamage said a dedicated Ministry Corruption Investigations Unit has been set up to probe corruption and irregularities across various levels of the sports sector. "This unit has been tasked with investigating all instances of past corruption and irregularities carried out in the Ministry," he said.

Srilanka, Jan. 12 -- Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Sunil Watagala has reaffirmed the National People's Party (NPP) Government's commitment to ensuring the equal application of the law. Responding to allegations of preferential "VIP" treatment for certain prisoners in the past, the Deputy Minister said that the Government will not tolerate such practices going forward.

By Maneshka Borham In a landmark achievement, Sri Lanka has seen a 75% increase in female representation in Parliament following the recent election, with a total of 22 women now set to serve as Members of Parliament. This number is just over 9% out of the total MP representation in Parliament, up from the previous 6%. The previous Parliament had just 12 female MPs, but this election has ushered in 21 newly elected female candidates.
