    When India declared itself open-defecation-free, it marked a critical step toward safe sanitation. However, a pressing challenge remains—the effective treatment, disposal or reuse of wastewater and biosolids. Without addressing this, groundwater, waterbodies and rivers remain vulnerable to pollution.
