    TAWAS CITY – The Easter Bunny made a stop at Tawas Methodist Church on Saturday, April 12. The annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny event is sponsored by Quota of Iosco and Huron Community Bank. In addition to families enjoying a tasty breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice and milk, children were able to get their photo taken with the bunny, play games, do arts and crafts and win prizes.

    AuSABLE Twp. – The AuSable Township Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Monday, April 7 at 5 p.m. Treasurer Yvette Ramsdell did not attend the meeting. During the first public comment Mike and Sheila Schraven addressed the board regarding the blighted property located at 423 Mill Street. Mike reported that he has had multiple conversations with Ron Phillips, the AuSable Township code enforcement officer, about the property.

    OSCODA – Community members gathered at the Oscoda United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 10 for the final Loaves and Fishes Café for the 2024-25 season. The 16th season started after Thanksgiving. For the past several months community members have gathered on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to enjoy homemade soup, sandwiches, fruit and desserts. “Food insecurity is a real issue in our community. Loaves and Fishes dovetails with our ongoing food pantry to address a critical need.

    OSCODA – The organizing committee for the AuSable River Canoe Marathon (ARCM) brought comedy to the AuSable Inn Riverview Restaurant and Sports Bar on Saturday, April 12. The comedy fundraiser show started at 7:50 p.m. with Valerie Heffelbower who served as the emcee. Heffelbower is from South Branch in northeast Michigan. The first act was Melissa Hager. Heffelbower said that Hager had changed her life in so many ways by making her laugh and becoming her friend.
