Lockdown changed a lot of the ways people lived their lives, some of those changes stay with us to this day five years on. Having to isolate with limited time allowed outside made us value what little time we had out of the house with many looking to make the most of their time outside. With exercise limited to "once per day" with up to six people from different households, long walks became one of the few ways people could socialise within the guidelines.

Residents will have to wait until 2026 to vote in their Local Elections after plans to form larger unitary councils were announced earlier this month. The Government is working to create larger unitary councils with there expected to be about five in total, consisting of about 400,000 residents, replacing the 15 current councils. Because of these plans Essex will not go to the polls in May with current elected councillors staying in their seats until a new mayor of Essex is voted for in 2026.

The UK Foreign Office has issued a series of travel alerts, warning against 'all travel' or "all but essential travel" to certain areas in Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. Out of the 226 countries or territories listed on the Foreign Office website for foreign travel advice, 73 have regions considered too dangerous due to security threats, health risks, or legal differences with the UK.
