A war of words has broken out between a community organisation and councillors after plans to redevelop a row of eyesore derelict houses in the shadow of Liverpool FC's Anfield stadium fell through. The nine empty terraced properties were slated to be handed over to Homebaked Community Land Trust (CLT) in 2016 instead of being demolished. However, Liverpool City Council announced it instead intends to sell the houses in Oakfield Road on the open market.

Sailors on the Royal Navy's largest aircraft carrier have spoken of their pride at the warship receiving the freedom of their home city. An MP has said the lack of a digital ticketing system for a city's trains is an "embarrassment" to the region. Passengers who purchase Merseyrail tickets online must physically print off their tickets at home or using a ticket machine in a station. Some customers who have paid full price online have complained after being stopped and fined under byelaws stating they must be able to present a physical copy of their tickets - even if they can provide proof of purchase.

The failure of a community mental health team to visit a Liverpool man days after he tried to take his own life "possibly contributed" to his suicide, a coroner ruled. The body of Dan Kay, 45, was found on a railway line in Mossley Hill in the city on 7 May last year.
