    More than 20 members of staff at Forres company AES Solar are gearing up for a sponsored bike ride to raise funds for health and wellbeing charity The Oxygen Works. The team will set off from either Aviemore, Grantown or Aberlour alongside friends and family en route to the finish line at Spey Bay on 31 August. Money raised will help to fund transformative support services for individuals living with long-term and complex health conditions.

    A new farm shop selling a wide and varied range of local produce and crafts has opened in Rafford. Marcassie Farm Shop, which is just before the village as you head out of Forres towards Dallas, will cater to a mix of locals, tourists and anyone that enjoys locally-made fare. The new outlet is run by Gulli Skåtun, and doubles up as a reception area for the six lodges on site, and event venue.

    A colourful and uplifting mural depicting the flora and fauna of Forres’s largest green space is expected to be completed by the end of the weekThe artwork is being painted on the wall of the building at the eastern end of Grant Park, which houses Mather’s Ice Cream, the Forres Harriers and the council-run toilets. The artwork is the design of Sathya Schlösser, who also illustrated the book Fantastic Forres, written by her partner Ewen Watson.
